Health Benefits of Consuming Turmeric

I live in the Philippines, and I've noticed a boom, since last year, of turmeric tea.

Since I'm Asian, I'm quite familiar with the rhizome family, as we use it for our every day dishes.

Whenever I walk in town, I have this opportunity to drink a tiny, hot cup of it -- a sample -- wherever these vendors may be, whether on the street, or in the main mall.

I like the tangy taste of it, my body instinctively knowing it has many health benefits.

I actually welcome it when my immune system goes down, and my throat gets raspy.

Health Ranger in the U.S. has this to say about turmeric:

Organic turmeric owes much of its antioxidant power and beneficial effects to a group of phytochemical compounds called curcuminoids. A group of naturally occurring phenols, this powerful selection of compounds is what gives the plant's rhizome its distinctive golden-tawny color, as well as its biting flavor.

Phytochemicals aside, turmeric is packed with an impressive source of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients – all of which help support overall health. Among the nutrients in turmeric are vitamins such as vitamin C and B-vitamins, minerals such as calcium, manganese, iron, potassium and zinc, as well as additional phytonutrients.

-- Protects against free radicals and oxidative damage
-- Supports healthy cognitive functions
-- Supports a healthy heart
-- Supports optimal bone and joint health
-- Maintains healthy glowing skin

For enhanced potency, supplement black pepper along with your turmeric. The piperine in black pepper has a two-fold effect on curcumin. First, it makes it easier for curcumin to pass through your intestinal walls and into your bloodstream. At the same time, it helps slow the breakdown of curcumin in the liver, greatly enhancing and retaining its overall potency when it reaches your bloodstream.

You can find turmeric recipes and an infographic from the Health Ranger site.

Here's to all our strengthened immune systems!

Health and Fitness Researcher

Hi, everyone!

I'm Leila Casusi, writer and researcher on all things useful.

I thought this blog's time has come, considering the many health challenges the world faces right now.

Why would you want to listen to a writer from the Philippines?

Well, I come from a family of doctors, and for a while, considered taking up medicine, but after taking up Architecture (my Dad's idea), I decided to become a writer and entrepreneur -- for many exciting reasons.

I won't even begin to recount my polka-dotted career of nearly three dozen jobs, but I sure can say I'm all the wiser for it.

People don't care if you don't have the qualifications.

They only care you care to do the job.

I've been well-versed in health as a kid, my dad being a doctor, and was a sponge who loved listening to my brilliant dad's many simple stories and remedies.

When I did get to the big city, I was hired to become editor in many fields for the expat community, one of which was for the "Business Journal" of the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Inc.

I also served as health and fitness writer for "World Executive's Digest" -- a business magazine for Asian executives -- and that's when I started doing TONS of research on health and fitness.

And, of course, I got into powerlifting and all that, so I'm pretty much aware of the mechanics of balance in mind and body.

I've created many blogs, one of which was also "Prophecy Lessons", which served to inform my spirit about the urgency of these times.

Since I started that blog on 11 September 2019, my work has greatly expanded itself.

Let's face it, we are in the midst of many health, economic, political, and spiritual challenges, and if you're not really exercising proper discernment, you won't know which source to trust.

Well, I have, for I have made it my business to know, and to see the connection of things.

After this latest potential pandemic, I know it's time to take my work to the next level.

Thus, this new blog I've created yesterday.

How does one fight diseases created by man?

Two things:

1. Strengthen your spirit.
2. Strengthen your body.

I will share with you all I know on this blog, for its time has come.

A lot of us are baby boomers (those born from 1946 to 1964), so we need extra knowledge to tide us over in these challenging, unusual years.

And whatever generation you are, it's a smart idea to know where to put your mind energies on.

Being an avid researcher, serial blogger, and entrepreneur, I've come across many things that affect all our lives.

I'm made it my focus to only share useful information for all of you, as I value your time.

I've done my research, but I still keep at it every day.

And you know what?

It's good to cultivate a clear mind, and a clean heart, for it helps in thinking.

It's the only way we can make a better world.

Start with self.

Don't look too far, start with self.

Review everything you're doing.

Earning money is short-term; but really living a life that cares for others is long-term.

Am I saying that money isn't important?

Of course, it is, but consider this link here.

If there's something I learned from Architecture, it's "perspective".

As a designer, we were trained to see things from all angles and points of views.

Well, let's take that a step further and look from within, too -- what we cultivate in our hearts.

Are we scheming?

Or are we loving?

As a writer and researcher, I keep things simple for myself, otherwise, I'd drown in boatloads of information.

I stick to the basics.

I stick to the principles my father taught me.

He could have been a famous doctor in the U.S., but circumstances dictated he build his profession as a physician-surgeon, in a small city 5,000 feet above sea level, 254 kilometers away from the big city.

Such was his fate, because he loved his mother, and he loved us, his then-growing family.

I shall continue my father's legacy -- of only giving you my very best -- just like how he has served three generations of patients.

My father loved God, too, as I do.

We are here to serve you.

So, we can start by protecting your immune system with the stuff I discovered which I wrote on this link.

Here's to a strong immune system for all of us, so we can live and work, unhampered by bio-engineered diseases which populate our air.

Photo shows my father and I, together with my brothers Ramon, and Franco.

Finally, a daughter was born.

I can hear my brothers say, "Yuck!"

Actually, this blog is dedicated to my late father, Dr. Cesar B. Casusi, a dedicated and brilliant physician, and surgeon, who did not make huge money off his patients.

Sure, he is shown to have a car here, as he really loved cars with white-side-wall tires, but pre-car days, he walked long distances to visit his patients, armed with only faith, will, his black doctor's bag, and a spray to ward off dogs.

He served mostly people from the market -- every day people.

That was the legacy he gave me.
